One of the things I like the most when traveling is staying at hotels that offer a unique experience, and in my trip to New York this wasn’t the exception. My boyfriend and me stayed at YOTEL New York, an affordable hotel with a distinctive futuristic style.
YOTEL New York review
- Location
I chose YOTEL New York not only because its unique concept but also because of its great location within walking distance to Times Square in Manhattan. YOTEL NY is located at 570 10th Ave.
- The future of hotels
YOTEL New York is the most modern and futuristic hotel I’ve ever seen. As soon as you enter you will notice YOBOT, a luggage-storing robot! Even if you don’t need to store your luggage, it’s amazing to see it in action. Yobot will store your luggage in a locker which you can access by an access code. Storage price is USD$2 per piece.
Guests have the option to self check-in in kiosks located at Ground Control which is super easy and quick. The touchscreens have multiple language options. The kiosk will give you your room key, and you can drop it off at any of the machines when checking-out.
If you prefer to talk to humans, you can also head up to Mission Control located at the 4th floor and check in at the reception desk. All the staff is really friendly and helpful.
- YOTEL Cabins
YOTEL concept was inspired by luxury aircraft design, translating it into small and luxurious “cabins”. Each cabin has modern and smart furniture designed to maximize space.
My room was a Premium Queen Cabin for two people. There are also rooms with bunk beds, executive and vip rooms wich are much bigger.
One of the great design ideas in the room is the smart bed which converts into a couch. This is really useful for when you need to pack your suitcase or simply for when you’re not sleeping and want more space in the room. Right in front the smart bed, there’s a flat screen TV with the ability to stream audio. The whole room is equipped with with places to hang and storage your clothes and objects.
Right beside the bed area you find the bathroom, designed only with glass walls and curtains that make the room feel larger. It’s not the best if you want complete privacy when you share the room, but it’s really cool to see the beautiful view from the bedroom when the curtains are open. In the bathroom you will also find a safe, an iron, and storage.

The breathtaking view from my room (15th floor)
- Beautiful common areas
YOTEL focalizes its design in the modern common areas where you can relax, eat something and just hang out.
Green Fig is the restaurant located on the fourth floor at the hotel, serving North African inspired dishes. There’s also a terrace which is actually New York’s largest hotel terrace. You can get breakfast, plates by the day and cocktails at night. Unfortunately it was winter when I visited and the weather didn’t allow me to visit it but I can’t wait to visit again in summer!
My favorite common area was The Green Room, where we decided to have breakfast every morning using the experience fee. What’s the experience fee? The hotel charges a $30 per night fee that provides value with a $15 per day food and drink credit and can be used at The Green Room, Green Fig restaurant, the terrace and items for in-cabin dining.
We stayed 8 nights at YOTEL and it was the perfect place to rest while exploring New York. The location is very convenient and the staff is helpful and friendly. If you’re looking for affordable prices but also like the luxurious and modern vibe, you should stay at YOTEL New York. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel
My stay was hosted by Hotel Yotel New York. As always, all opinions are my own.
