Where to stay in Menorca

por Postcards from IvI

Menorca is a privileged island located in the archipelago of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It has paradise beaches and charming towns, which is why it is one of the most chosen destinations for summer holidays in the country. In this post I tell you where to stay in Menorca, including recommendations for the best areas and hotels on the island.

Where should you stay in Menorca?

Despite being an island of about 700 km2, Menorca has many different areas. The best area to stay in Menorca will depend on when you travel and the type of trip you want to do.

If you travel in summer and plan to spend your days at the beaches of Menorca, it will be convenient for you to stay in areas close to Cala Galdana or Cala en Bosc. If you are looking for a place close to the beaches but quiet at the same time, I recommend staying in areas like Son Bou or Cala en Porter.

On the other hand, if you are looking to be in an area with movement and nightlife, and you don’t care too much about the proximity to the beach, I would recommend staying in Ciutadella or Mahón, which are the biggest cities in Menorca.

Thinking of renting a car? I always use rentalcars.com, a website that compares the prices of all car rental companies and usually offers a lower price. I used it on my last trip to Menorca and I picked up the car at the airport.

  • CIUTADELLA DE MENORCA

Ciutadella is a city located on the west coast of Menorca. It is famous for its old town and its medieval streets. Staying in this area means being in the busiest area of the island and having a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops. As there is so much accommodation offer, it is possible to get cheaper prices.

There are some beaches close to Ciutadella, although the best ones are a little further away. Despite that, it is a good area to sleep as there is a wide variety of accommodation and the city is very beautiful.

If you travel to Menorca with the intention of discovering its paradisiacal beaches and calas, a good option is to stay in Cala Galdana.
