What to see in Menorca in 3 days

por Postcards from IvI

Menorca is the most beautiful island in the Balearic Islands archipelago. A destination with paradisiacal beaches and dreamlike villages that is definitely worth visiting. In this post, I will tell you what to see in Menorca in 3 days so you can plan your trip to the island.

What to see in Menorca in 3 days

Day 1 in Menorca

  • Ciutadella

Start your day in Ciutadella, the ancient capital of Menorca. It is known for its old town and its picturesque medieval streets.

Don’t miss the Cathedral of Santa María, an example of Gothic architecture built in the 14th century.

This is the most bustling area on the island, with a wide variety of restaurants, shops, and hotels.

  • Cala en Brut

Menorca 3 day itinerary

A few kilometers from Ciutadella, you’ll find this cove known for its crystal-clear waters and rock platforms from which you can jump directly into the sea. The color of the water is truly spectacular, making you want to spend the entire day swimming.

  • Pont d’en Gil
I recommend ending your first day in Menorca at Pont d’en Gil, also located very close to Ciutadella. It’s a naturally formed rock arch that is truly unique. From the cliffs, you can watch a beautiful sunset over the sea, and it’s undoubtedly a great way to conclude your day on the island.

Day 2 in Menorca

The second day of these 3 days in Menorca will be dedicated to visiting beaches and coves, so get ready to spend the entire day in the sea and discovering some of the most incredible places in Menorca.

  • Cala Galdana

Menorca 3 day itineraryStart your second day in Menorca at Cala Galdana, one of the most famous coves on the island and one of the best places to stay if you are traveling to visit coves.

Cala Galdana is very close to other beaches, making it the perfect starting point. You can even move from this cove to another by walking along the Camí de Cavalls, a path that encircles the island connecting the different beaches. The stretch between Cala Galdana and Cala Mitjana is particularly beautiful.

Cala Galdana has many services and restaurants, is accessible by bus from other parts of the island, and has shallow waters, making it ideal for families with children.

  • Cala Macarella & Cala Macarelleta

From Cala Galdana, you can walk to these two coves. They are very famous beaches in Menorca, so it’s best to go early to avoid crowds, especially if you travel in summer. You can walk between the two coves along a coastal path.

It’s important to note that from mid-May to the end of September, you can’t access these coves by car, so the best option is to leave your car in Cala Galdana and walk along the Camí de Cavalls to Cala Macarella and Cala Macarelleta.

A great way to visit these coves is to book this boat tour of the southern coves from Ciutadella, which goes by coves like Macarella, Macarelleta and Turqueta.

  • Cala Mitjana & Cala Mitjaneta

Menorca 3 day itinerary

If you still have time for one more beach, visit Cala Mitjana and Cala Mitjaneta. These are also two very famous coves, so you should go either very early or late, when people are starting to leave the beach. From Cala Galdana, you can walk along the Camí de Cavalls, which is about a 20-minute walk.

  • Far d’Artrutx

Menorca 3 day itinerary

End the day by watching the sunset at the Artrutx Lighthouse, located in the south of Menorca in the Cala’n Bosch area.

Day 3 in Menorca

  • Cala’n Turqueta

Another gem in the south of Menorca is Cala Turqueta, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. It’s a very popular cove, so you’ll need to arrive early at the parking lot to find a spot to leave your car.

  • Cala en Porter

Menorca 3 day itineraryAs an alternative to Cala Turqueta you can visit Cala en Porter, a less massive beach where you can enjoy your last morning in Menorca. There are several restaurants in the area where you can have lunch.

  • Binibeca

Menorca 3 day itineraryThis little fishing village that seems to be on a Greek island is located in Menorca, in the south of Mahón. Its streets are super picturesque with white houses and labyrinthine streets that lead to the sea.

  • Favàritx Lighthouse

To say goodbye to Menorca, I recommend visiting the Favàritx Lighthouse, in the north of the island. An ideal place to watch the sunset and take photos.

Another excellent option to end your trip is to book this sunset sightseeing cruise where you will see Menorca’s most iconic landmarks.

How to get around in Menorca

The best way to explore Menorca is by car or motorcycle as there are many beaches or coves that cannot be accessed by public transport.

Another good option if you don’t rent a car is to take boat excursions like this one that will allow you to live a unique experience on the island and visit less popular coves.

Thinking of renting a car? I always use rentalcars.com, a website that compares the prices of all car rental companies and usually offers a lower price. I used it on my last trip to Menorca and I picked up the car at the airport.
