Valle de Uco: luxury among vineyards
Known for its stunning landscapes and world-class vineyards, Valle de Uco is perfect for wine lovers who want to experience the unique pleasure of sleeping among the vines. Valle de Uco is home to some of the best wineries in Mendoza, many of which also offer top-notch accommodations.
The Valle de Uco region is located approximately an hour’s drive from downtown Mendoza and is comprised of three departments: Tupungato, Tunuyán, and San Carlos. If you plan to stay in this area, I recommend renting a car as it is the most convenient way to get around without relying on others.
I stayed in this area and loved it. If you are traveling to Mendoza primarily to tour wineries and want to be in a quiet place surrounded by nature, this is the ideal location.
Recommended hotels in Valle de Uco:
- Tupungato Divino: I stayed at this hotel and I highly recommend it. The location is spectacular, each room is independent surrounded by vineyards. There are several wineries with restaurants nearby and the hotel itself has a restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served daily. The quality-price ratio is very good and the service is excellent. See Tupungato Divino prices on Booking.

Luján de Cuyo is another excellent wine region, home to some of the most famous wineries such as Catena Zapata and Lagarde. It’s located about half an hour from Mendoza airport, making it a perfect area to enjoy wineries without straying too far. If you’re not planning to rent a car, this area is great because you can get there by bus or taxi.
Within Luján de Cuyo is Chacras de Coria, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Mendoza. It’s just 20 minutes from downtown and offers a wide range of restaurants and bars.

You will find a wide variety of accommodations, restaurants, and supermarkets. The proximity to the city is an important point to consider if you are not going to rent a car or if you want to engage in nighttime activities. It is an excellent area to stay in Mendoza for visiting wineries.

- Potrerillos: Perfect for adventure tourism and nature lovers.
- Usupallata: If you’re traveling to Mendoza to go trekking in the mountains or to climb Aconcagua (the highest peak in America), Uspallata is the best place to stay.
Tips for choosing a hotel in Mendoza
- Type of trip: When choosing an area to stay in, consider whether your trip is as a couple, with family, if your main activity is visiting wineries, or if you’ll be exploring the city.
- Advance Booking: I recommend booking your accommodation in Mendoza at least 3 months in advance, especially if you’re considering staying in areas like Valle de Uco, where there is a lot of international tourism and the best hotels quickly fill up.
- Transportation: Check the availability of transportation if you plan to visit wineries or more remote areas. For example, I chose to rent a car at the airport to go to my hotel in Valle de Uco, giving me more independence to get around. I recommend booking your car on rentalcars.com, a website that compares prices from all car rental companies and usually offers lower rates.
Mendoza offers a variety of accommodation options for all types of travelers. From the vibrant city center to the serene vineyards of Valle de Uco, there is a perfect place for every type of trip and budget.
